Humane Society slates fur ball

The Whitman County Humane Society will host its fifth annual Fur Ball and Yappy Hour: “Hot Dogs, Cool Cats and All That Jazz.” Their biggest fundraiser of the year will be at Schweitzer Engineering’s event center in Pullman Saturday, Jan. 28, from 5 to 9 p.m. Speaker will be Dr. Marc Bekoff a former professor of ecology and evolutionary biology at the University of Colorado. He will talk about the emotional lives of animals. His books include “Animals Matter,” “Wild Justice,” and “The Emotional Lives of Animals.”

Proceeds from silent and live auctions will go to benefit general operations at the Whitman County Humane Society.

The evening’s meal will be catered by Black Cypress of Pullman with local beers and wine from Wawawai Canyon Winery.

Tickets for the event are $50 and may be purchased by at the WCHS office at 126 S. Grand Avenue in Pullman.
