Colton's Josh Straughan earns Times 1B player of year honor

Colton senior quarterback Josh Straughan was named Washington 1B Player of the Year in the Seattle Times all-state selections. For his senior season, Straughan scored 60 touchdowns. He hit 232 passes with 41 going for scores.

Straughan, who concluded a four-year career as Colton QB, scored 141 TDs in his high school career. He completed 662 passes with 114 going for TDs.

The Seattle Times selects an all-state team made up of players from all divisions. Team slots normally go to top players in the state 4A and 3A divisions. Quarterback for the Times all-state team was Skyline’s Max Browne. In his two years as a starter, he scored 95 TDs and passed for 8,216 yards. Browne and Bellevue QB Tyler Hasty shared Times overall player of the year honors.

All-state team player from the smallest school was Walker Williams, 6-7 lineman from Tacoma Baptist.

The Times also names an overall player for each divison. Zach Bartlow of Waitsburg/Prescott was named 2B player of the year.
