All 14 branches of Whitman County Library will close Jan. 15-16 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr., Day. Due dates have been extended and the library’s website services including online requesting, renewing, Livemocha Language Learning and a live chat librarian will still be available at http://www.whitco.lib.wa.us
Third Thursday Club will celebrate “Winter Fun” Jan. 19 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. with crafts, games and snacks for kids in grades 1-4. Children can ride bus 5 from Jennings Elementary to library with a note from a parent.
Whitman County Library Board of Trustee rescheduled their monthly meeting to Tuesday, Jan. 24, at 4 p.m. in the Colfax Library. Meetings are open to the public and residents are encouraged to attend.
Teenagers 12 to 18 can spend the afternoon with Teen Librarian Chelsea Leachman Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 3 p.m. Enjoy snacks and extra computers while Chelsea demonstrates how to make wallets with duct tape.
Educational classes for children are each Thursday in the Colfax Library with Baby Time at 10:10 a.m., Toddler Time at 10:30 a.m. and Preschool Time at 11 a.m. Playgroup classes are a more interactive version that includes parents and caregivers in the child’s learning experience each Friday from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
Only a few 2012 Barn Calendars remain throughout Whitman County Library locations. Stop by any branch to purchase a copy to help support children’s programs countywide.
Extra tables are set up on the main floor to accommodate hundreds of items offered for the Friends of WCL book sale which will continue until all items are gone. As always, Troll’s Corner book sale is stocked with good quality books, music and movies for sale whenever the library is open.
