Colfax Coach Dennis Gransbery expects wrestlers for at least six teams will converge at Colfax Thursday for the second home meet of the season. The matches were billed as a league meet but other schools are expected to participate.
Among the guests will be Potlatch which was originally slated for a duel meet Tuesday. The meet was scratched, but the Loggers will be among guests for the action tonight, although the action will be subject to a weather check.
Colfax hosts after four team members booked 28 points to finish 10th among 19 teams at the Orofino invitational Friday and Saturday.
Daython Maltone extended his win string by winning the heavyweights title at Orofino. Coach Gransbery kept the heavyweight out of the Friday prelims to allow one more day to recover from the arm injury which sidelined him last week.
Maltone Saturday took the Orofino title with a 7-3 win over Ty Paul of Grangeville. He pinned Zak Carscarllen of Moscow in the first round of the semi-final.
Brandon Arneson placed fourth in the 145 class. Arneson had a 9-4 lead in the consolation final against Rafe Williams of Clearwater Valley, but Williams made a move at the right time for a second-round pin.
Arneson booked a third-round pin over Andrew Carl of Kamiah to get into the finals. He was then pinned by Randy Paul in the third round, but he advanced to the consolation final on a first-round pin over Dylan Vermillion of Elgin and a 19-11 win over Issac Walters of St. Maries.
Dalton McNeilly finished 3-3 in the 160 class with two second-round pins before sustaining a first-round pin at the hands of Dakota Cornish of Clarkston. He was then pinned by Jack Lloyd of Kamiah and Brad Boren of Clearwater Valley.
Ray Compton in the 182 class was pinned by Gabe Paul of Grangeville, Aaron Treadway of Clarktson and Brett Kuhn of Clearwater Valley.
Coach Gransbery has also scratched entry into the Clearwater Classic at Lewiston for this weekend. The Bulldogs instead plan to travel to the Kittitas Tournament to face some of the mid-state wrestling talent.
