Serving Whitman County since 1877
Colfax Arts Council’s Meet the Artist Feb. 2 will welcome stylist, writer, crafter and collector Hillary Hamm to the Colfax Library at 7 p.m. Hillary documents her work and play through project tutorials, recipes and general hilarity on her blog, the Thrillz of Hillz.
Whitman County Library’s 12th annual “Food for Fines” drive will begin Feb. 1 and continue through Feb. 29 at all 14 library branches. Library users can exchange non-perishable food items for up to $10 in outstanding library fines. All food will be distributed to the food bank used in the community where it is collected.
Last year, the Whitman County Library collected non-perishable foods valued at more than $1,002 and received one third more food than was needed to clear fines said Kristie Kirkpatrick, WCL director.
Non-perishable food may be donated at library branches in Albion, Colfax, Colton, Endicott, Farmington, Garfield, LaCrosse, Malden, Oakesdale, Palouse, Rosalia, St. John, Tekoa and Uniontown.
Those patrons whose accounts have been sent to collection do not qualify for this waiver.
Young children are invited to the Colfax Library for an educational Storytime each Thursday with Baby Time at 10:10 a.m., Toddler Time at 10:30 a.m. and Preschool Time at 11 a.m. Playgroup takes place each Friday from 10-11:30 a.m. for all young children and those who care for them.
Only a few 2012 Barn Calendars remain at the Colfax Library. Stop by today to purchase a copy, which helps support children’s programs countywide.
It’s time to renew Friends of the Library memberships. The group supports programs and services like Summer Reading, the Palouse Empire Fair booth, books for children’s TV-Free week and much more. Stop in the library for more information.
