Colfax wrestlers tonight will again try to host a wrestling meet for league guests and others starting at 6 p.m. The big Bulldog home meet was bumped last Thursday when Colfax schools were canceled because of storms, but the meet was re-booked for tonight starting at 6 p.m.
This will be the last home show for the Bulldogs before they go into the tournament eleminations.
Kittitas had 16 teams on the entry list Saturday, but only 10 showed up after the big snowstorm. Many of the brackets were left unfilled and that shortened the day of competition.
Colfax heavyweight Daython Maltone came home with another championship after scoring two pins. Maltone pinned two heavies from Wilbur/Creston/Kellogg. He pinned Damien Dixon in the first round and Spencer Nee in the second. Nee, top wrestler for the Wildcats, owns a win over the second place finisher from last year’s state B final.
Ray Compton sustained a third round pin from Buck Trib of Liberty Bell in the 182 class for his lone action on the trip. Compton earned a second place for his efforts.
Justin King rolled up a 3-1 day in the 170 class. He was derailed by Clyde Sims of Cashmere 1-12 in the 1st round and then pinned Shane Coleman of Liberty Bell in the consolation final for third place.
King pinned his first two foes, Robert Jones of Ellensburg in the first round and Antonio Martinez of Wahlucke in the third.
Hollis Higginson booked a 1-2 in the 132 class. He pinned Alex Jacobs of Ellenbeurg in the first round and then bowed to Trevor Marshburn of Cashmere 0-15 and Allyn Burbee of Ellensburg 1-18.
Dalton McNeilly, wrestling at 160, was pinned by Jack Wageson of Wahluke in the second round and Tyler King of Pomeroy in the third.
Saturday the Bulldogs will wrestle at Tri-Cities Prep for the last meet of the season before tournament time.
