The city of Tekoa has a new council member, business owner Richard Kelly.
He was appointed by Mayor John Jaeger and the city council Monday night, replacing Mike Boganreif, who resigned in January.
“I just wanted to try to be involved a little more around here,” Kelly said. His wife Lisa was just appointed secretary of the Tekoa Chamber of Commerce in January.
Kelly owns the Tekoa Market and the Tekoa Hardware building.
He was a late entrant into the candidate pool, which included Linda Schmidt and Richard Chittenden.
“It was not an easy decision,” said Mayor Jaeger. “Which was nice. We had three really good people.”
