The Feb. 3 meeting was at Jane Aune’s home and Mary Ann Wigen presided.
Continuing the year’s theme “Notable Washington Women,” Ruth Enos presented a program about Tug Boat Annie.
A young Norwegian, she and her husband immigrated to the U.S. and eventually moved to Tacoma. She started a row boat business in busy Tacoma harbor. With a logo “Always Ready,” the family built a large business of row boats, tug boats and ark ships.
She was a smart woman who also worked and contributed to local organizations.
A special movie from the Inter Library was shown with great historical pictures of Tacoma and Annie.
Meeting concluded with refreshments served by Jane Aune.
