'Food for fines' drive continues

Whitman County Library’s 11th annual “Food for Fines” drive continues through Feb. 29, at all 14 library branch locations. Library users can donate up to $10 in non-perishable food items in exchange for waiving that amount from their library account. Food donations are also encouraged from residents not facing library fines.

In Colfax, the Council on Aging and Community Action have merged into the Colfax Food Bank. Coordinator Gail Webster said they have seen an increasing need for food during this difficult economy.
