Hydrant markers said missing

Colfax Fire Chief Ralph Walter reported Feb. 6 four or five of the marker rods which had been mounted on city fire hydrants have been stolen. Walter said identification rods were installed on 40 of the hydrants around town to help fire crews spot the hydrants in a time of emergency. The rods are bolted to the hydrants with brackets, and most of the thefts were apparently done by using a wrench to loosen the bolts.
