Athenaeum

Members gathered at the home of Sherry Cox Feb. 17. Mary Ann Mitchell presented a program on Maude Lillian Bolin. She was a member of a Yakama Indian Tribe and known as Yakama Cow Girl Aviator. Her love of flying combined with her dare devil rodeo adventures made her well known in the county. She flew across the country in 1928, but she was also recognized for many civic contributions.

Cindy Jones, Cheryl Alice Van Tine and Ruth Enos were placed on the associate member list.

The next meeting will be held at the Colfax Library March 2.

Rosalia Garden Club

The public is invited to a special program Wednesday, March 7, at 3 p.m. at the Community Baptist Church in Rosalia. Dennis and Claudia Biggs, members of Inland Empire Dahlia Society will do a power-point presentation on “Exploding Dahlias” and share her best culture tips in growing prized dahlias. Claudia has won national awards for her photography along with the dahlias.

Club members will judge the children’s Butterfly posters from the schools on this date with the first place winners going on to the state contest.

Hostesses will be Terrie Tucker and Leila Van Dyke.

Cub Pack 419

Cub Scout Pack 419 graduated five fifth grade Webelos during the annual Blue and Gold Dinner Feb. 16 at Franklin Elementary School. The crossover ceremony involved Boy Scout Troop 444 led by Scout Master David Clark. The graduating Webelos were Ethan Mitchell, Miles Harder, Andy Simanson, Darshil Shah and Casey Gleason. The Webelos den leader is Cheryl Mitchell.

Pack 419 is sponsored by the Pullman Lions Club and is led by Cub Master Mike Heston.
