A 9-year-old Bremerton boy appeared in court dressed in an orange prison jump suit after a gun he brought to school in his backpack went off and critically wounded an 8-year-old classmate. The boy was held on $50,000 bail on charges of third-degree assault, unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm on school grounds. The boy faces up to 30 days detention, a year of probation and 150 hours of community service for each count.
