Library provides Colfax pact

Whitman County Library has provided Mayor Todd Vanek with a copy of the Feb. 22, 1983, contract between the library and City of Colfax which calls for the city to pay a share of maintenance and improvement costs. At the last city council meeting Vanek reported the city and library are working on a new contract to iron out the payment arrangement. At the time, he was under the impression neither side had a copy of the original agreement, but Library Director Kristie Kirkpatrick has since provided a copy of the agreement.

Vanek, at Monday night’s city council meeting, said the agreement between the city and the library has evolved over the years. He has also obtained copies of past billing statements to Colfax and said the billing statements have evolved to the point of becoming the contract.
