Hospital highlights

Whitman Hospital and Medical Center has a variety of professional staff to assist our patients and families. Our social workers are experts in assisting with understanding a new diagnosis and how that might change a patient’s life. They are also experts on the many community resources as well as end of life and palliative care support. Social workers assure that our patients are discharged to an appropriate care setting with the education and support they need to be successful after discharge.

Our social workers also support our Ethics Committee. The ethics committee provides education for all hospital staff and includes community members. They also may be consulted anytime a patient, family or professional staff member has an ethical dilemma.

Social workers are experts and assist people in completing POLST and Advance Directive forms. These documents tell your healthcare providers about your decisions for treatment and end of life care. Mark your calendar for Healthcare Decisions Day April 21. We will sponsor a host of activities.
