Seattle Business cites PRH's Dr. Caggiano

Dr. Richard Caggiano, chief medical officer at Pullman Regional Hospital, was named a silver award winner in the category of “Health Care Professional” by Seattle Business magazine’s annual Leaders in Health Care. The awards were announced and presented at a ceremony in Seattle in February. Winners in each category are featured in the March 2012 edition of Seattle Business.

Dr. Caggiano organized the emergency medical group at Pullman Regional Hospital in 1998. That established a standard of excellence by insisting on hiring only board-certified or certification-eligible emergency physicians and retaining them.

Dr. Caggiano’s hiring track record boasts a perfect 100 percent retention rate for emergency department physicians. All hired more than 12 years ago have remained on staff.

The number of emergency department visits has grown from 5,000 to 10,000 per year, with an average wait time of less than 15 minutes and a total length of stay of less than 2.5 hours.
