Little Guy wrestlers, fans invade Colfax gym for tournament

More than 400 Little Guy wrestlers competed in the annual tournament at the Colfax High School gym Saturday.

Wrestlers from as many as 12 Little Guy clubs took part in the event which was conducted on 12 wrestling squares marked off on three mats in the CHS gym.

The top photo shows a lineup of younger wrestlers on the bench waiting for a call to action.

Below, SJE wrestling grad Charles Newton, serving as one of the referees, gives a little pre-tangle instruction to Ryder Lindbo of Colfax and Jaylynn Caddy of the Coulee Crushers (right).

The eastern Washington area of Little Guy Wrestling has 65 different groups registered.

Among clubs represented Saturday were Tri-Cities, Coulee, Pomeroy, Potlatch, Walla Walla, Lewiston, Moscow and Clarkston.

Competition included boys and girls wrestlers.

Colfax Little Guys Wrestling club has approximately 50 members with 20 of them coming from the St. John area.

Colfax and SJE High School wrestlers were among volunteers assisting in the event.
