Serving Whitman County since 1877
Whitman County Library’s seventh annual Penny Drive will be March 26-April 14 in honor of National Library Week, April 8-14. Each of the 14 library branches will collect money to fund programs or projects that are vital to their location.
Last year the library system collected more than $1,060. Vicki Hatley’s Daycare in Colfax took top prize for the most money collected by, bringing in more than $600 for the library. Once again, many classrooms and daycares will compete for an ice cream party hosted by the Friends of Whitman County Library and featuring a visit by the Reading Bear.
First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association and libraries across the country. Whitman County Library celebrates the contributions of its loyal customers and dedicated staff during this special annual event.
