Eagle girls place second in big Central Idaho meet

The Eagle girls Saturday placed second in the big Central Idaho invitational at Lapwai with 91 points, just 6.5 behind the win posted by the big Grangeville team.

The Eagle boys finished in sixth place with an even 50 points behind the Grangeville winners who tallied 110.

Garfield/Palouse/ Colton boys booked 12 points, and the girls finished with three, all from Colton senior Grace Druffel who placed 15th in the 100 sprint and sixth in the 300 hurdles.

SJELW girls who booked wins included Sami Bailey in the 1600 with a 6:08.9, Heather Siegel in the 3200 with a 12:18.54, and the sprint medley relay team of Annie Bailey, Jordan Porubek, Gretchen Van Lith and Gail Harder with a 2:13.31.

Rachel Gfeller placed third in the triple jump with a 29-10, and Brooklyn Hostetler placed third in the discus at 77-2 and fifth in the shot put at 25-6.

For the Eagle boys Kaleb Simon won the long jump at 19-3, and placed second in the triple at 38-3.5. Darcy Stamper won the high jump finals at 5-10.

The sprint medley team of Graham BeDell, Sam Harder, Caleb Rich and Stamper placed second with a 4:12.1. Harder, Simon, Sawyer Hostetler and Stamper placed fourth in the 4 X 100 at 51.42.

For the Viking boys, Nick Robertson finished fifth in the 400 with a 58.59. Derrick Bosch placed fifth in the shot at 36-8.5, and fifth in the discus at 111-03.

GPC also took a dominating win in the weight throwers’ 4 X 100 with Bosch, Robertson, Druffel and Anthony Floyd.
