Tekoa's Empire Plans 'Spring Fling'

Tekoa’s Empire Theater annual “Spring Fling” will be Saturday, March 31, beginning at 5 p.m. at the Cafe Artisan with a large array of gourmet hors d’oeuvres and tapas. A selection of fine wines will also be available by the glass. The theater box office will open at 6 p.m. for the 7 p.m. show featuring the Moscow duo Jon & Rand, who perform a variety of music including hits of the Beatles, James Taylor, Neil Diamond, Credence Clearwater Revival, Simon & Garfunkle and others.

Jon Anderson and Rand Walker teamed up in 2011 and have appearing regularly at the Best Western University Inn in Moscow. Anderson is also a member of the four-piece classic rock band The Senders, who were originally scheduled for Spring Fling but had to cancel because of health problems of one of the members.

Anderson also spent five years as the musical director of the Idaho Repertory Theater and currently teaches jazz piano at the University of Idaho.

Now a psychologist, Walker regularly performed as a solo artist in venues including in Yosemite, San Francisco and Mallard’s near Oxford, England. After many years off from professional performing, Walker is excited to be playing again. In addition to his private practice, Walker is an author and holds appointments at both WSU and the UI.

The theater’s Footlights Gallery will also be showcasing the spring and Easter merchandise of Hillary Lawson’s Balloon Biz. Refreshments will be available in the theater lobby during intermission.

Admissions will be $10 for adults, $5 for students and free for children 12 and under.

The Artisan Cafe portion of the evening will cost $ 10, not including beverages.
