Wolf, flight films booked at Empire

Larry Whitesitt of Fairfield has rented the Empire Theater in Tekoa to show two wilderness films free April 14 beginning at 2 p.m. A writer and former bush pilot, he plans to show “Lords of Nature,” a film about the wolf recovery in Yellowstone Park, and “Northern Flight of Dreams.”

During the 1960s and 1970s Whitesitt was a bush pilot who flew deHavilland Beaver sea planes and ski planes out of the Yukon into British Columbia and Northwest Territories. The flight film is connected to the book he wrote with the same name.

Whitesitt has also written “Higher than Eagles,” a book about 11 World War II pilots in the Spokane area.
