Bulldog girls sweep Broncos at Ritzville

Colfax girls Saturday opened their league run with two Big wins over the Lind/Ritzville/ Sprague Broncos at Ritzville. The game was moved from Colfax to Ritzville because of the soggy Colfax field at McDonald Park.

The Bi-County schedule this year is set up with one round of doubleheader clashes so the same two teams will not collide again here.

Colfax had been scheduled for another home double with Reardan Tuesday on the home field but field conditions after the Monday’s deluge stopped that.

Teams were hoping to get the game in Wednesday.

Saturday at Ritzville, Amy Hickman pitched both wins with Rachel Robinson catching.

They took the first game 15-8 and the closer 22-4 in four innings after the Bronco pitchers folded.

In both games, Ritzville pegged an early lead, but Colfax, playing as the home team on the card, took control of the game early.

Hickman fanned five, walked one and allowed 12 hits for the 15-8 win. Colfax batters had 10 hits and cashed in on 14 walks for the Bronco thrower.

Hickman had five RBIs in the opener with two singles and a double. Other hitters for Colfax were Sam Pearson, single; Robinson, double and triple; Kaysha Lyman and Scoops Hahn, both doubles, and Lauren Moore, single.

The second game, the Bulldogs bats came to life for 13 hits for the 22-4 win over five frames. Hickman held the Bronos to eight hits, struck out four and walked two.

Taylor Larsen led the Bulldogs with four singles and a triple. Other hits for the Bulldogs were Moore, double; Pearson, single; Robinson, single and double; Hickman single; Rachel Hardie, single, and Erin Cox, two doubles.
