Panther, Cardinals emerge as early track power in SE

Asotin girls booked a power win last Friday in the second SE district meet in Clarkston when tracksters received a moderal break in the weather. The Panther girls rolled up 152 points with the SJE-LW combo club second with 66 and Tekoa/Oakesdale/ Rosalia third with 57.

Other team scores for the girls were Waitsburg/Prescott 49, Gar/Pal-Colton 40.5, Pomeroy 35.5 and Walla Walla 25.

Waitburg/Prescott dominated the boys side with a 159 point total. Other team scores were DeSales 96, Asotin 87, Pomeroy 66, Walla Walla Valley 37, GP-Colton 29, SJE-LW 21 and TOR 15.

Cassie Thompson of GPC took the 200, and Grace Druffel booked a win in the 300 hurdles with a personal best of 55.07.

Rachel Gfeller of St. John took the triple jump with a six-inch edge. In the 4 x 100 sprint relay. Tekoa/Oakesdale/Rosalia clocked a .2 second win over Pomeroy with Alex Naught, Gabby Israel, Joy Littleton and Maddie Bogenreif clocking 59.51.

On the boys side, Darcy Stamper of SJELW had the lone win for a Whitman club with a 5-10 in the high jump.

Jeff Kent placed second in the pole vault at 10-0 and in the 200 meter sprint with a 24.1 behind James Thompkins who swept the short races for Waitsburg/Prescott.
