Photos sought for restoration grant

The Rosalia City Council and Rosalia Historical Commission are now seeking a grant to restore the 1902 Pythian Building at the northwest corner of Whitman and Seventh Streets in Rosalia.

Fraternal organizations such as the Knights of Pythias, Masons, Woodmen of the World and auxiliaries such as Rainbow Girls held meetings there.

This 1906 photo shows the front office space occupied by “Golden Rule” O.V. Manring Department Store.

The historical commission asks for the public’s help in locating vintage photos of the interior of the building upstairs and downstairs.

Residents who can loan such photos to the commission are encouraged to contact city hall or email a copy of the photo to clerk@rosaliatown.org.
