Bulldogs, Vikings take test at Moscow Twilight meet

Colfax Bulldogs and the GP-Colton Vikings mixed it up with some of the area’s top track talent last Friday at Bear Field in Moscow. The Bulldog girls finished in fourth place with 75.5 points behind the 138.5 win posted by a talented Logos team.

Other top team finishes for the girls were posted by Grangeville 112.5, and Moscow 90.

Moscow boys posted a strong team win with 136.5 on their side of the meet for a 40-point win over Waitsburg/Prescott.

Colfax sprint relay girls pegged a win to keep their string alive in the 4x100 with Amelie Bruya, E.B. Haltey, Hannah Harazin and Bailey Mackleit booking a 51.98. Grangeville chased the Colfax foursome with a 52.81.

Morgan Willson, who faced a big entry in the Pasco Invitational the next day, took the other Colfax win with a 2:26.48 in the 800.

Hatley added points in both sprints with seventh in the 100, 13.65, and a third in the 200 at 27.94.

The Bulldogs 4 X 400 placed fourth with a 4:33.06 with Cassie Vorderbrueggen, Taylor Lange, Hannah Harazin and Leah Heiner.

Nicole Sheer added points with a second place in the shot at 30-0, and a fourth in the discus at 86-7, and Colfax took points in the pole vault with Vorderbrueggen topping 6-6 and Emma Klaveano 6-0. Mackleit placed fifth in the long jump at 14-10.

Viking girls booked points with Cassie Thompson clocking seventh in the 200 sprint at 29.01, and 7th in the long jump at 14-5/5. Jesse Hathaway booked a seventh in the discus at 72-5. Grace Druffel booked ninth in the 400 at 1:09.08 and 11th in the 300 hurdles at 55.99. Holly Leendertsen placed ninth in the long jump at 14-2.

Top eight finishes for the Bulldogs boys were nailed by Sam Thompson, seventh in the 200 at 24.68, third in the high jump at 5-4; Kellen McNannay and Skylar Simons, tied for third in the pole vault at 10-6, Landon Willson, third in the long jump at 18-7; Justin Aucutt, fourth in the 400 at 54.38; and Jackson Elfers, fifth in the 1600, at 4:56.79.

Relay team points came from Alvin Li, Willson, Thompson and Austin Corean fifth in the 4x100 at 47.58, and Aucutt, Bo Claassen, Corean and Willson fourth in the 4x400 at 3:51.98.

Nick Robertson placed eighth for the Vikes in the 400 at 56.48 and 11th in the 200 at 25.39.
