Colfax girls post big win in Davenport meet

Colfax girls scored another big District 7 track win Tuesday by stacking up 134 points to lead 10 other teams in a meet at Davenport. Their win gap was 32 points over number-two Reardan.

Colfax relay teams booked a sweep with Amelie Bruya, E.B. Hatley, Hannah Harazine and Bailey Mackleit extending their string in the two sprint events.

Colfax coaches tinker with the lineup in the 4 X 400 and posted a 4:29 for an 11-second win. Harazin Cassie Vorderbrueggen, Lean Heiner and Morgan Willson ran the legs.

Nicole Sheer took a win in the shot put and placed second in the discus and Willson again cranked out big wins in the distance events.

Colfax boys placed fourth in close team competition with 80 points. Davenport and Reardan tied for the top finish with 100 each. The Bulldogs took the sprint relay at 45.75 with Alvin Li, Justin Berarducci, Sam Thompson and Austin Corean running legs.

Berarducci and NWC’s Rueben Clark renewed their high jump duel which ended in a tie at 6-2.

Jackson Elfers of the Bulldogs had a piece of the action in three roaring finishes in the distance races. Elfers was third in a three-second count in the 1600 and placed second in a duel with Northwest’s Seven Olds who took the win in the 3200 by eight-tenths of a second.
