Transformer blast blocks Thorn

Traffic on Thorn Street in Colfax was blocked 35 to 40 minutes last Wednesday after a transformer blew up on the north side of Thorn Street near the F Street intersection. Chief Bill Hickman said the explosion knocked down lines on both sides of the street.

Avista crews were credited with making a quick response to the scene, but the street had to be blocked off in both directions and that cut off vehicular traffic to the upper Thorn Street area.

A fire crew was called to the scene and assisted with traffic control.
