WCL TV challenge taken by 45 youths

Nearly 45 Whitman County youngsters met the goal of not watching television during a week in April to meet the library’s five-day TV Free Challenge. The Friends of the Library supported the event by offering a free book to every youngster who met the challenge.

U.S. researchers report toddlers who watch too much TV may struggle in school later with measurably lower scores in math. Less surprisingly, children who watch too much television weigh more and eat more snacks and soft drinks than those whose TV viewing is limited, researchers report in the Archives of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine.
