BB Club guest day lunch served at Jones schoolhouse

Last Wednesday, Dusty B.B. Club held their annual guest luncheon in the Jones Schoolhouse at the Palouse Empire Fairgrounds. Approximately 40 members and guests attended the event. Fran Jones presented the program on the history of the Jones family. The next meeting of the club will take place in October.

A work day has been scheduled at the Dusty Cemetery for 8 a.m. on Monday, May 21. Workers are asked to bring their weed eaters. The annual meeting of the cemetery will follow the work session.

Linda Hennigar was in the Tri-Cities last week Tuesday to help grandson Wesley Banks, son of Tami and Jay Banks, celebrate his 12th birthday. She stayed to watch his baseball game on Wednesday and returned home Thursday. Tami and Wesley Banks joined Hennigar for lunch on Mother’s Day in Pullman.

Guenter and Bridgette Scherwinski, Mountain Home, Idaho, arrived Thursday to spend Mother’s Day weekend with their daughter Angela Broeckel and family. They returned home Monday.

Last Thursday, Carmi Cummings Thompson, Mount Vernon, met with Karen Broeckel for dinner at the Top Notch Cafe in Colfax for a short visit. Thompson was on her way to visit friends in Moscow. The women were classmates from LaCrosse School.

Shari O’Hearne, Colfax, and Vicki Broeckel, Dusty, visited with their mother, Berniece Krom, at her home in the Whitman Health and Rehab Nursing Home in Colfax Saturday. Krom’s other daughter and son-in-law, Gwen and Randy Klein of Spokane, entertained the residents with musical numbers during the Mother’s Day dessert hour.

Sunday, Vicki Broeckel joined daughter and son-in-law Michelle and Mike Carver, Spokane, on the 23rd Annual Historic House Tour. This year, they toured six homes, built from 1913 to 1937, in the Rockwood Historic District neighborhood. The annual Mother’s Day tour was sponsored by MAC Museum.

Kim and Cindy Pitts, Dusty; Norm Bafus, LaCrosse; and Carrie Pitts, Renton; joined Amanda, Erik and Tate Carlson in their Spokane home Saturday to honor Rafe Carlson, on his fifth birthday.

Larry and Di Brink celebrated Mother’s Day with dinner out. Colene Sager joined her daughter’s family, Gaylene and Don Manning and children of Valleyford, in celebrating Mother’s Day by attending their church and enjoying dinner together. Art Sager joined the Whitman County Sheriff’s Posse in a pleasure ride along the Palouse River.
