Colton, Touchet will go to Yakima

Colton’s softball team stacked a 20-1 win Tuesday in the four-team SE playoff to guarantee another ticket to the state show at Yakima where they have won titles the last three years.

The four SE teams in the 1B division played off Tuesday in a format which called for the lower-seeded team to bag two wins to advance to the state test. Pomeroy, seeded number four, would have had to take two wins Tuesday at Colton to advance.

In the other matchup, Garfield/Palouse had to travel Touchet and win two to advance. That game matched the third and fourth-seeded teams in the league.

Touchet pegged a 4-0 shutout over the Vikings to advance.

Colton will host Touchet Saturday at 1 p.m. to decide SE seeding to the state show the following week.

Tuesday, the Wildcats lashed 19 hits at the Pirates in the five game round. They started with nine runs in the first inning.

Sophomore Jenna Moser and freshman Winnie Schultheis pitched for the Wildcats and allowed six hits for the game. Each struck out two Pirates.

Jenna Moser and Haley Moser each tagged a double and triple. Meghan Heitstuman had three hits with a triple and Erin Weber had two his with a double.

At Touchet, the Vikings were limited to three hits in the 0-4 shutout. They ended the campaign with a 5-12 mark.

Chandler Pfaff pitched for the Vikings to wrap up her sophomore season. Terrie Taylor doubled for the top Viking hit.
