Dream Big, Read! will be the theme of the Whitman County Library Summer Reading for 2012. Stop by the library to sign up for Summer Reading and visit the library’s website for a complete schedule.

Eric Herman will bring his “Cool Tunes for Kids” to area schools this week to promote Summer Reading 2012 which is sponsored by the Friends of Whitman County Library.

Herman’s videos, including the smash hit, “The Elephant Song”, are hugely popular online, with over 30 million views on YouTube, and his award-winning songs have been heard nationally on PBS Kids, The Today Show, XM Radio and in the Warner Bros.film, Life as We Know It.

Learn how to make bracelets out of old T-shirts on Wednesday, June 6 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in the Colfax Library. Kids in grades 5-8 are invited to a free Bracelet Making program.

Fun educational classes for young children are each Thursday in the Colfax Library with Baby Time at 10:10 a.m., Toddler Time at 10:30 a.m. and Preschool Time at 11 a.m. Playful Learning Classes are a more interactive version that includes parents and caregivers in the child’s learning experience each Friday from 10-11:30 a.m.

Those interested in reading and discussing contemporary titles, can sign up at the library for a book club. . For those already participating in book clubs, we have multiple copy sets, called Bookclub in a Box , for groups to borrow.

Friends of the Library has many items for sale in Troll’s Corner Book Sale in the Colfax Library. Books, children movies, Friend’s cookbooks and reusable book bags are for sale. Proceeds benefit children’s programs throughout Whitman County.

All 14 branches of Whitman County Library will close May 26-28 for Memorial Day Weekend.
