Viking grads receive many scholarship offers, awards

Members of the Garfield-Palouse High School class of 2012 received scholarship offers and awards totaling approximately $840,000. The awards include $18,000 from local groups and funds.

Award recipients are listed as follows:

Kaycie Adair: Garfield Lions Club Scholarship ($400), Round Table Club ($500), Ellis and Neta Schaffer Memorial Scholarship, Classic All Star Games ($80), Highline Community College basketball scholarship.

Emily Akin: Round Table Club ($500), Presidential Out of State Tuition Scholarship at Lewis-Clark State College ($7,132) per year for four years.

Sarah Bofenkamp: Steve Cocking Memorial Scholarship ($250), Round Table Club ($500), Garfield-Palouse Education Association ($500), Brad Baunsgard Memorial Scholarship ($500), AE, P.E.O. Chapter Scholarship ($900), Azusa Pacific University Undergraduate Deans’ Scholarship ($18,000) per year for 4 years, University of Idaho Discover Idaho Merit Scholarship ($10,000) per year for 4 years, Alumni Association Scholarship ($500), Palouse Lions Club ($1,000), Xenodican Scholarship ($500).

Derrick Bosch: Palouse Grain Growers ($250), Palouse Community Scholarship ($500), Cochran-Blair Memorial FFA Scholarship ($250), Xenodican Scholarship ($500), University of Idaho Discover Idaho Access Waiver ($5,000) per year for 4 years, University of Idaho Discover Idaho Merit Waiver ($4,000) per year for 4 years.

Nathan Cocking: Palouse Grain Growers ($250), Turkey Leg 2011 sponsored by the Green Frog and Palouse Library ($200).

Adrienne Hamilton: College Bound Scholarship ($4,500) per year for 4 years, Eastern Washington University Merit Scholarship ($2,500) per year for 4 years.

Jessie Hathaway: University of Montana Western Undergraduate Exchange Award ($11,000) per year for 4 years, Montana State University Achievement Scholarship ($4,000) per year for 4 years, Montana State University Achievement Scholarship ($1,000), Washington State Honors Award for ranking in the top 10% of the graduating class in the state of Washington.

Heidi Jamison: Palouse Grain Growers ($250), State Bank Northwest Memorial Scholarship ($500), Chapter IO, P.E.O. Melissa Johnson: J. Palmer Trimble Memorial Scholarship from the Garfield Lions Club ($400), Palouse Community Scholarship ($300), Garfield-Palouse Education Association ($500), ASB Memorial Scholarship ($250) The scholarship is donated in the names of Joe Hall, Norma Brantner, Tom Nagle, Jacob Demand, Mark & Jane Howlett, Patty Bofenkamp, Virgil Dunning, Bill Wolfe, Tom Thompson, Gail Iverson and Gary Iverson, Moscow Elks ($75), University of Puget Sound Presidential Scholarship ($17,000) per year for 4 years, College Bound Scholarship ($11,000) per year for 4 years, Washington Opportunity Scholarship ($1,000) per year for 4 years, Washington State Honors Award for ranking in the top 10% of the graduating class in the state of Washington.

James Keller: Lewis-Clark State College Out of State Tuition Scholarship ($3,000) per year.

Jeffrey Kent: Leendertsen-Styer Memorial Music Scholarship ($140), Halpin Award for Math and Science, Tulane University Academic Merit Award ($25,000) per year for 4 years, Membership in the National Society of High School Scholars, Washington State Honors Award for ranking in the top 10% of the graduating class in the state of Washington.

Jonathan Kuehner: Round Table Club ($500), Alli Bennett Memorial Scholarship ($500), Brad Baunsgard Memorial Scholarship ($500), AE, P.E.O. Chapter Scholarship ($900) , University of Idaho Discover Idaho Merit Waiver ($4,000) per year for 4 years, Washington State University Faculty/Staff Award ($1,000) per year for 2 years

Delanie Linderman: American Association of University Women Washington Outstanding Achievement in Technology Award ($200), Montana State University Achievement Award ($3,500) per year for 4 years, Kings College Presidential Scholarship ($10,000) per year for 4 years, Barry University Annual Award ($7,500) per year for 4 years, Lewis-Clark State College Presidential Out of State Tuition Scholarship ($5,000) per year for 4 years.

Mickaila Martin: Turkey Leg 2011 sponsored by the Green Frog and Palouse Library ($200), AE, P.E.O. Chapter Scholarship ($500), Tim Dawdy Scholastic Athlete Award: This award is presented to the student athlete who participates in the most sports and maintains the highest Grade Point Average, National Discus Award for community service, athletics, academics and work experience ($2,500), Eastern Oregon University – University Scholar Award ($2,000) per year for 4 years, Merit Award ($1,800) per year for 4 years, Western Undergraduate Exchange Award ($6,250) per year for 4 years, University of Idaho – Western Undergraduate Exchange Award ($12,500) per year for 4 years, Alumni Scholarship ($600), Lewis-Clark State College Presidential Scholarship ($3,000) per year for 4 years, Central Washington University Merit Award ($1,800) per year for 4 years.
