Charge on Staley reduced

Lindsey Staley, 31, Pullman, was sentenced to one year in jail, all suspended, after he pleaded guilty May 11 in Superior court to an amended charge of solicitation to possess marijuana. Staley was arrested Feb. 29 after a warrant search of his residence in the Pullman area.

Officers at the time of the arrest said they confiscated more than 100 marijuana plants at the residence.

Senior Deputy Prosecutor Bill Druffel said the state decided to reduce the charge against Staley because of a dispute on the number of plants discovered at the residence. He said Staley was determined to be a medical marijuana provider and the dispute on the number of plants related to how many clients he was serving. The grow was posted with certification of the patients, but one of the posted certificates had expired.

Staley was ordered to pay $1,500 in fines and fees. Both sides agreed the grow equipment, which had been confiscated by the drug agents, will be returned.
