All 14 branches of Whitman County Library will close July 4 in celebration of Independence Day. Access to the library’s catalog, downloadable audio and e-books, subscription databases and a live, online librarian will still be available by visiting the library’s website.

“Playful Learning” sessions at the Colfax Library will run through Friday, July 6, 10 to 11:30 a.m. Sessions will resume Sept. 14, the Friday after the Palouse Empire Fair. Throughout the year the free program, open to all families, gathers weekly in the Norma McGregor Meeting Room at the Colfax library.

Teens are invited to Hands on Henna Saturday, June 30, at 2 p.m. in the Colfax Library to learn to use all natural henna paste to make temporary tattoos.

Sears Academy of Dance offers classes for children ages 3-18 Tuesdays and Wednesdays in the Colfax Library’s Community Enrichment Center building. For cost, times and registration details, contact Ana Maria Sears : [email protected].

Summer programs will continue at the Colfax Library with “Robot Fun” next Thursday, July 5, at 10:30 a.m.

In preparation for a noon luncheon visit by author Jim Lynch Nov. 12 the library is sponsoring Everybody Reads, “Bordersongs” by Jim Lynch. Cost is just $8 for this special one-of-a-kind experience with one of the funniest writers and speakers around. Multiple copies of the book are available for checkout from the library.
