Kara R. Foreyt, 19, Colfax, escaped injury when she lost control of a 2002 Honda Civic on Highway 194 south of Colfax Thursday afternoon. The Washington State Patrol report said Foreyt was driving westbound at 4:14 p.m. and went onto the shoulder of the highway. She over-corrected and the Civic crossed the highway and went off the south side at mile 15.6.
Caihley L. Baker, 21, Sequim, was unhurt Thursday night in a car-deer accident on Highway 26 about five and one half miles west of Colfax. A deer ran onto the highway in front of a 2003 Lexus which was been driven eastbound by Baker at 10:55 p.m.
STRUGGLE AT EMERGENCY ROOM
Two Whitman Hospital staffers sustained minor injuries last Thursday morning in attempts to subdue a patient who reportedly became unruly in the emergency room. One staff member sustained arm scratches and one was head butted in the struggle, according to Interim Chief David Szambelan who responded to the scene at 8:36 this morning. Two deputies and a State Patrol trooper also responded to the scene.
Szambelan said hospital staffers reported the patient had left the room where he was being treated and became unruly. Staff members at the hospital were able to get the patient on the floor and officers arrived on the scene to keep the patient subdued until medications took effect.
DRIVERS ESCAPE INJURIES
Damon D., Buck, 19, Colfax, was unhurt early Thursday morning when he lost control of a 1999 Nissan Maxima on the Almota Road, four miles south of Colfax. According to the Washington State Patrol report, Buck was driving southbound at 12:30 a.m. and lost control on a curve. The Nissan crossed the roadway and went onto the shoulder of the oncoming lane and then skidded back across the roadway and rolled several times.
Bret D. Blankenship, 54, Washtucna, was unhurt on Highway 127 south of Dusty Wednesday afternoon when he lost control of a 1985 Kenworth truck and trailer on Highway 127. According to the WSP report, Blankenship was driving northbound at 2:02 p.m. when the tractor-trailer drifted to the right. He over-corrected, and the trailer rolled on its side, blocking the northbound lane of the highway at mile 14.4.
Andrea G. Bolen, 35, Lewiston, was unhurt Wednesday when the 2005 Chevrolet Equinox she was driving struck a deer on Highway 195. She was driving northbound at 11:46 a.m. when the deer ran onto the highway and hit the car at mile 67.1.
