Rick McNannay reported for duty as the new Colfax Police Chief Monday. A 17-year veteran in law enforcement, McNannay had served with the Whitman County Sheriff’s office since 1999 and attained the rank of sergeant. He trained under the sheriff’s reserve program and then served with the Moscow Police Department from 1995 until joining the sheriff’s office.
He fills the vacancy left by the retirement of Chief Bill Hickman.
Chief McNannay was administered the oath of office at the start of Monday night’s Colfax city council session. Many family members attended the event.
The new chief thanked city staffers for giving him support on his first day on the job. He noted they made it easier that what he anticipated.
