The annual Palouse Ice Cream Social will be Sunday at the Palouse City Park from noon to 4 p.m. The social will again feature homemade pies, Lions Club burgers, beverages and music.

Members of Xenodican Club and the Round Table Club are coordinating the event which will benefit the new Palouse Community Center.

Community Band of the Palouse will play from noon to 2 p.m. followed by Jens Hegg who will play acoustic blues and folk music.

“I know that it’s been at least 20 years, if not 25,” said Chairperson Crystal Bailey. However long the social has contiuned, the choices for ice cream have always been vanilla, chocolate and strawberry.

Prices include $1.75 for pie, $1.50 for ice cream and $2.50 for both.

Coffee is free.

“Some years, people come down and eat ice cream and we bring in $400 or $500,” said Bailey. “Other years people have written checks for $1,000.”
