On Tuesday, Constable W.S. Reider had an examination before Justice Inman for the killing of Pete Olson at Palouse City on the night of July 4.

E.H. Orcutt was the only positive witness of the shooting.

His testimony showed that Olson seized Reider, who was in charge of a prisoner, and threw him down, and that the latter fired two shots berfore rising from the sidewalk.

The first went over Olson’s head.

Olson was about four feet from the constable when the shots were fired.
