Colfax will host Legion playoffs

Colfax baseball fans will get a chance to see triple A Legion teams in action this weekend when McDonald Park hosts one of four semi-final rounds in the state playoffs. The four teams which land at Colfax will be part of a 16-team playoff entry which will be played out at three other locations around the state.

Colfax Coach Mike Parrish said the lone known qualifier for the Colfax series, as of Tuesday, was the 49ers team out of the Spokane Senior Legion League. The 49ers, who are from the north end of the Spokane league territory with players from Deer Park, Riverside, Chewelah and other schools, were the top qualifier out of Spokane Senior Legion.

Parrish said most of the other teams in the state round, including three more who will be headed for Colfax, were expected to be decided in playoff rounds around the state Tuesday.

The Pullman Patriots, who have played some of their home games at McDonald, qualified as the number-three team at out of Spokane with a 2-1 record. That will send them to the four-team semi round in Issaquah.

Parish said the McDonald site will include three games Saturday with starting times at 10 a.m, 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Final games Sunday will be at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Top two finishers will advance to the state finals.
