Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc., will host an open house at its new facility in Lewiston Aug. 9, 2012, from 3 to 7 p.m. The event will feature tours of the manufacturing floor, product displays and information about the company and its industry.
The Lewiston facility is SEL’s fourth manufacturing location, and more than 130 SEL employees are working there. Construction on the facility began in January 2011, and the production of plastic parts used in the company’s electronics equipment started in January of this year. A full manufacturing line for electrical relays began production in early April.
“We are so pleased by the welcome we have received from the Lewiston community, and we want to invite everyone to see firsthand what we do to make electric power safer, more reliable and more economical,” said SEL president and founder Edmund O. Schweitzer, III. “We are honored to be here, and we look forward to a bright future in the Lewis-Clark Valley.”
SEL also operates manufacturing facilities in Pullman where the SEL headquarters is based; Lake Zurich, Ill., and San Luis Potosí, Mexico. The company also maintains engineering and customer service offices in 51 domestic and 42 international locations.
