Schuster cards second in junior golf tourney

St. John’s Michal Schuster shot a second place 76 in the Junior Golf Northwest tournament at Downriver Golf Course in Spokane last Saturday. Schuster’s score put her one stroke back of the 75 Savannah Bezdicek of Colbert, who carded the title in the 16 to 18 year old age bracket on the par 72 course.

She also won the golf organization’s Liberty Lake Classic junior tournament in July.

Schuster, now a senior at St. John/Endicott High School, finished third in the state B golf championships this spring in Tacoma. The Eagles’ team captured their second straight state championship in the state B tourney.

Winning for the boys 16 to 18 was Joel Christensen of Liberty Lake with a 75. Jake Dringle of Spokane Valley won the boys 13 to 15 with an 81; Emily Callahan of Couer d’Alene shot 83 to win for the girls.

In the 10 to 12 age group, Dylan Bissel of the Tri-Cities shot 74 to top the boys and Hallie Gropp of Spokane shot 141 to win the girls.
