Warrant issued in drug case

A superior court warrant for the arrest of Tracy D. Mimms II, who was arrested in September of 2009 as a result of a controlled drug purchase operation, was issued Friday. Mimms, now 26, was charged with failing to appear in court Aug. 17 for a compliance review of his sentence.

Mimms, who told officers after his arrest that he had come here from Montclair, Calif., in an attempt to get on the WSU or UI football teams, was eventually convicted in April of 2011 of possession of oxycodone. He was sentenced to three months in jail and ordered to pay a fine of $5,000.

The amount said still due on the conviction is $5,889 which was slated to be reviewed at the Aug. 17 compliance hearing.

The investigation report said informants three years ago told officers a dealer known as Deuce had arrived in the area and was a source of drugs.

Mimms was allowed early release from jail for work credits he earned while working in the county shops. However, the court declined to credit his work hours against the amount of the fine due.
