Straughan earns MVP in opener

Four-year Colton High School quarterback Josh Straughan was named Most Valuable Player in a season-opening football game called the Dayton Classic, which pitted his Stillman College team against Central State University at Dayton, Ohio. Stillman College is an NCAA Divison II school in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

The true freshman entered the game in the fourth quarter Sunday and led Stillman to three touchdowns and a 28-27 win. Straughan was the Tigers main offensive threat hitting 7 of 12 passes for 143 yards and two touchdowns. The Alabama team had trailed 7-20 when Straughan took the field.
