Veterans’ tribute set at Colfax cemetery

A veteran’s memorial tribute program will be conducted Monday, Sept. 17, beginning at noon in the Colfax cemetery. SPC Paul Swanson of the Washington Army National Guard honor guard said the tribute program extends funeral military honors to veterans who died prior to 2000 when Congress made ceremonial paying of respects a statutory benefit.

Prior to that time honorably serving men and women have passed away without receiving a formal demonstration of gratitude for their service and sacrifice.

During the tribute program the names of each veteran will be read.
