Wranglers collect wins in Palouse Empire rodeo

Palouse Empire Rodeo brought in approximately 150 wranglers over a three-day show at Mockonema. The rodeo added $500 to the pot money for each event.

Spectators at the Sunday go-round got to see three bumps in the team roping event with Bob Thompson and Teejay Brown taking the top money of $739 with a 4.74 time. Bo Sickler and Tyler Saunders ended the run with a 5.44 for second place and $544.

Barrel racers followed the same format with Pam Capper of Arlington wining at 17.249 seconds. Cheyenne Allen of Wilbur clocked 17.579 for third place on the Sunday card. Jade Crossley took the number-two time earlier with a 17.57.

Orlun McGuffin of Ellenburg booked the lone bareback score a 77 to win $547, and Howard Dalton had the lone bull riding score with a 77 to take the event’s top prize, $950 for the eight seconds aboard.

This year’s card was bolstered by a new stock saddle event which allowed cowboys to bring their working saddles and compete on broncs in the Friday and Saturday night shows.
