Fifth, sixth graders hike up Kamiak

LaCrosse fifth and sixth graders hiked to the summit of Kamiak Butte Sept. 13. They have been studying topographical maps and elevation in social studies.

They found an elevation marker pounded into a boulder. They also found a geo-cache with a stamp of Chief Kamiaken and a booklet where they wrote their names.

Julie Roberts and Kara Harder hiked with the class and saw many interesting trees and rocks.
