Nighthawks, Colton book strong net league starts

Colton’s Wildcats and the Tekoa/Oakesdale Nighthawks booked strong wins Tuesday in the SE volleyball rounds. The ‘hawks posted a strong win over the Vikings, and Colton defeated the Rosalia Spartans in three straight.

TEKOA/ OAKESDALE, which will be at Colfax tonight, defeated Garfield/Palouse in three straight games, 25-14 25-22 and 25-11 in the Tuesday round. Middle hitter Evon Anderson put down 15 kills for the ‘hawks, and Cassie Mendoza had nine.

Katie Renstrom was credited with 29 assists.

Cassie Thompson of the Vikings had nine kills in the match, and Chandler Pfaff had 13 assists.

COLTON Tuesday defeated Rosalia in three straight, 25-12 25-12 and 25-6 with Jenna Moser tagging 11 kills and 12 acres. Kaden Dahmen put up 14 assists for the Wildcats who now have an 8-2 record.

LACROSSE/ Washtucna and Rosalia battled through four games Thursday at Washtucna in the league opener with the Tigercats taking the win at 25-20 25-21 22-25 and 25-17. Logan Harder hit 10 kills for the ‘cats and Lindsey Miller had 18 assists. Kadie Whinery hit four aces and Gail Harder had four digs.

Hannah Sims put down six kills for the Spartans and Mackenzie Reddish has five blocks.

Tuesday, the Tigercats bowed to TCP Jags who took the win at Pasco in three straight, 25-12 25-19 and 25-22. Shayla Sisk hit four kills for the T-cats, and Miller had nine assists Brooklynn Hostetler hit two aces.

GARFIELD/ Palouse took a five-game battle with Asotin in the Thursday round. The Vikes took the deciding fifth game with a 15-11 score. The Panthers arrived at Palouse with a 5-0 win string.

Cassie Thompson led the team in kills and Chandler Pfaff finished with 29 assists.

ST. JOHN/ Endicott bowed to Davenport Tuesday in a non-leaguer which went for four games 25-13 25-22 21-25 and 25-11. Emily Jones rapped 21 kills for the Eagles, and Morgan Anderson was credited with 34 assists in the battle. Rachel Gfeller had five aces.

SJE hosts Liberty in a non-leaguer tonight.
