Serving Whitman County since 1877
“Stuttering: Straight Talk for Teachers,” a 20-minute DVD produced by the Stuttering Foundation, is now available at Whitman County Public Library. It helps parents and teachers understand how stuttering can affect children of all ages in the classroom and is available at most public libraries. It includes children who discuss their experiences in the classroom and tell what was helpful for them.
Noted speech-language pathologists Bill Murphy of Purdue University and Kristin Chmela, of Northwestern University present practical strategies teachers can use to help children feel more comfortable talking in the classroom.
Books and DVDs produced by the 65-year-old nonprofit Stuttering Foundation are available free to any public library.
