Endicott Teacher Mike Anderson writes e-book

Endicott teacher Mike Anderson got so irritated with politics that he wrote a book.

“You can’t teach current events all year and not get a bit fed up with the political shenanigans of some of our leadership,” he said about his new book, Jubilee: The Day Everyone was Free, which has been published in an e-book mode for downloading;

“Constantly reading and teaching about self-serving politicians who refuse to cooperate with each other for the good of the country was tiresome,” he said.

“It got me to wondering what it would take to get our political leaders to cooperate with each other,” he said. “That sparked the idea for the book.”

Anderson, a social studies and Spanish teacher for the St. John - Endicott Cooperative, said the short novel deals with the country’s current political and economic crisis of recession, out-of-control federal spending and ideology driven politics. He said the story line revolves around an apparent terrorist plot to push the already ailing U.S. economy over the edge and into economic ruin.

“Anyone who reads a newspaper and is aware of what is going on in the country and the world will identify with this plot,” Anderson said.

The book is not a first effort for Anderson, though it is his first novel.

Anderson also has written lengthy instructional manuals, which were printed and distributed to teachers attending educational seminars he has given around the country.

Jubilee: The Day Everyone was Free can be downloaded from Amazon Books to Kindle reading devices and from Barnes and Nobel for Nook readers. The book can also be downloaded to individual computers from both sources after downloading a free application, which is available from each site. The ebook sells for $2.99.
