More e-Book titles coming to library

Whitman County Library will soon offer $66,000 in new digital titles as part of a grant received by the 30 libraries in the Washington Anytime Library consortium. The federal funding comes from the Library Services and Technology Act, administered through the Washington State Library.

The titles are available free for download with a Whitman County Library card at the library’s website http://www.whitco.lib.wa.us.

Once at the site, a user then clicks on “Washington Anytime Library,” enters their card number and goes to the button for “Request an e-book.”

Digital titles may be read (or listened to) on an eReader devices such as the Nook and Kindle, the Ipad and other tablet computers, smartphones and MP3 players such as the iPod.

Digital titles come in audio format and Ereader format.

As of now, there are 7,000 digital titles available from the Whitman County Library (WCL). This grant will nearly double that, according to WCL Director Kristie Kirkpatrick. It will also offer duplicate titles and cut down on wait times, she said.

Library patrons are encouraged to request titles or authors they would like to see added to the collection. To request a title or for assistance in accessing the library’s digital books, contact the Whitman County Library.
