Candlestick marker nixed

A set of three “candlestick” traffic control markers which were placed at the intersection of Main and Thorn have been removed. Police Chief Rick McNannay said the traffic markers were removed by the Department of Transportation crews.

The chief placed the markers at the intersection to discourage northbound motorists from ignoring the “right turn only” restriction on the curb lane of Main Street.

The right turn lane begins after northbound motorists on Highway 195 round the curve and head down Main Street. Motorists pulling into the lane before Thorn are supposed to turn right up Thorn.
